I am a typesetter by trade and have an interest in the history of books and their printing and publishing. An allied interest is in the origins and usage of language.
Hitchin Town Football Club is a sporting interest of some years standing. Their unfortunate relegation from the Premier division of the Ryman League has done nothing to diminish my pride in my town (anyway their current form suggests that next season will be spent back in the Premier). The local councillors' failure to prevent the forthcoming absorption of Hitchin into the soulless swamp of an expanded Stevenage, however, has.
Our garden is home to some bantam hens of various breeds. We also offer a pond which is a refuge for good numbers of frogs and newts and the occasional toad, given the choice I'd swap the newts for more toads but nature doesn't work like that.
My musical taste is wide, in addition to James's ventures (see reclaimed soul) the Troggs are my favourite band and I have a good collection of their records and some other paraphernalia. If you have something that may be of interest please let me know (see below for Records Wants List of some bits I'm definitely after). Cubanate and Ministry are worth listening to if you have some pressure to release and if you listen to them both you can make up your own mind as to whether Cubanate really do "make Ministry look like a cucumber sandwich". While on the subject of music Nick Beggs' knows what he's doing and I'm not just saying that because I'm fond of his sister and her family.
